Hello Dear One,
I hope you had a beautiful holiday season and all is well with you. I am writing to share some highlights of 2022 and let you in on what we have planned for 2023.
In February 2023 we will celebrate four years of patient care at Caring for the Body, PLLC – Center for Functional Medicine. It is a profound honor and privilege to work with our patients. I love seeing people heal! It brings me great joy and fulfillment when our patients no longer suffer from chronic symptoms, improve lab values, reverse their risk factors for disease, shed diagnoses, cut back or eliminate their need for prescription drugs, lose unwanted body fat, increase energy, think clearer, move better, and experience improved vitality… so that they can do the things in life that bring them joy and a sense of purpose!
2022 has been a year of growth and connection.
Here are a few of the highlights:
- First and foremost, we cared for a growing number of patients seeking health optimization and help for their chronic medical problems. Compassionate, personalized, patient care remains at the core of who we are and what we do as a medical practice.
- We continued our monthly Soul Care Virtual Retreats (initially launched in April of 2020 to help our patients navigate the stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic).
- I launched my first podcast! – The Joy Prescription
- We started offering body composition testing with the InBody technology.
- We held our first live workshop in the office since the beginning of the pandemic! Jumpstart Your Weight Loss Workshop
- We welcomed Nancy R. Rizzo, M.S., Th.D., Ph.D., DABR Medical Physicist, and Energy Medicine Specialist to our team. She is offering HeartMath Coaching and Bioenergetic Assessments. You can watch our latest educational video here: Nancy Rizzo, Ph.D. – Medical Physics & Your Body’s Energy Systems.
- We hosted a Patient Appreciation Event & Open House in the fall and it was a big hit!
- We are now offering PEMF – Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy.
I am grateful for all of the opportunities we’ve had to serve our patients in 2022, and look forward to growing the impact of Caring for the Body, PLLC – Center for Functional Medicine in 2023!
There are two key ways we want to grow:
- Helping our patients experience more health transformation.
- Improving access to cost-effective, affordable functional medical care
We are expanding our capacity to help more people through group medical programs targeted at specific sets of common symptoms and diseases.

More ways to jumpstart your new lifestyle and fitness routine…
To get to the root cause of chronic disease we have invested in diagnostic technology and created a new assessment aimed at helping our patients lose unwanted body fat, gain lean muscle, and get physically fit. After the indulgence of the holidays, it’s a great time to hit the reset button and re-focus on your health! Here are two affordable options to jumpstart your new lifestyle and fitness routine:
- InBody Body Composition Assessment – Find out how much body fat and lean muscle you have. This quick test is a great way to track your fitness and weight loss progress to make sure you are shedding fat and not muscle.
- Functional Fitness Assessment with Dr. Libert – The goal is to understand your personal strengths and weaknesses, and to get started on a progressive fitness program to optimize your body composition, reduce your risk for chronic disease and potentially add years of better health to your life.
Focus on Cognitive Decline Prevention
I continue to have a special interest in the prevention of cognitive decline. I have been privileged to do the following advanced training over the last several years:
- 2021 Kharrazian Institute Cognitive Decline & Alzheimer’s Disease Course
- 2021 Amen Clinics Professional Brain Health Certification Course
- 2020-2021 ReCODE 2.0 training with Apollo Health and Dale Bredesen, M.D.
- 2017 Advanced Clinical Training in Treating Mild Cognitive Impairment and Early Alzheimer’s Disease, Institute for Functional Medicine
- 2016 The Bredesen Protocol™ Certified Practitioner, Buck Institute for Research on Aging with Dale Bredesen, M.D.
There is much to be done to prevent and reverse the early signs of memory loss and cognitive decline. I encourage you to schedule your annual “cognoscopy“ – the ultimate brain health checkup with me soon. This assessment is recommended for all adults 45 years of age and older, especially if you are having any brain fog or have a family history of Alzheimer’s disease in a parent, sibling, or grandparent.
